Dooney and Bourke handbag cake
This cake was a replica of the Dooney and Bourke handbag that is directly behind it and was my first attempt at carving a cake after starting to watch Ace of Cakes. The dark brown trim is made from chocolate clay and the cake is iced in buttercream as I do not care for fondant.
I measured the bag and made templates of the ends so I could carve it. The cake itself is several layers-I baked a large sheet cake and cut the layers from it. Cutting all the little DB's was time consuming as was putting all the "stitches" in the handles and trim pieces.
For those that don't know me, I don't have a shop or sell from home. I make these cakes for family and friends. Thanks for looking. If you have any questions about a cake please leave a comment and I will get back to you.
